Young infants are easy to breastfeed once the latch has been developed and the mother and child get into a habit and regular techniques of nursing – including finding the proper positioning and timing the nursing as well as learning the cues from one another.
Older infants, infants that have reached six months of age can be quite impatient while nursing and often will become quite demanding while nursing. It’s around this time that mothers choose to introduce nursing manners to the infant. Introducing these manners includes gently guiding the infant to the behavior that the mother would like to see while nursing.Check out this link here.
One of the most common complaints that mothers have is that the child will pull the shirt exposing the breast when they would like to nurse, and to avoid this many mothers introduce sign language and gentle cues to avoid embarrassment in public.
The second common issue is that infants will become distracted while at the breast. Mothers can introduce nursing manners to keep the child on task while nursing, stopping the nursing process when the child becomes distracted.
Older infants that are beginning to bite should be removed from the breast and replaced a few minutes later, it won’t take long for the infant to realise that this behavior isn’t desired.
